First up, we heard from Dr Dr Charlotte Bagnall, Lecturer in the Psychology of Education at The University of Manchester. She notes that the transition from primary to secondary is associated with declines in wellbeing among children, and is the subject of Charlotte’s research.


Dr Charlotte Bagnall Dr Bagnall explains that better monitoring during the transition will help understand who is at risk of developing mental illnesses, and provide timely support. She emphasised thar support needs to be both universal and targeted, to prevent major impacts on children’s learning.
