Saw Gajan processions yesterday. What an auspicious time! Not only we're observing Durga Puja but also Bhagavan Shiva (Shib er Gajon) & also Neel Puja (Hara Gauri Vivah).

Kulachar plays imp. role in Pujas. Both fish & meat are offered. I emphasized that particular part as it often gets neglected because of e-shaktas who reduce our Pujas to pandal & feast. I know much more about our traditional Puja rituals than your lot & it is not 'as you wish.'

Both the Durga Pujas (Basanti & Sharadiya) fall under Navaratri. In earlier days Durga Puja used to be (it's still present but less) of 16-20 days. Some Bengali families have only Basanti Puja. We've proper niramish & balipratha. Shut up if you don't know. Don't talk gibberish.

Dhuno Porano- A fire ritual observed mainly by the Bengali women for her children & family's welfare. They sit infront of Ma with burning malsas on their hands & head. After Dandi Kata, they lay on ground with malsas placed on their bodies & fire is all over them.
