NSA Hussein Sheikh-Ali was a panelist today at the climate change & security sector reform side event at #COP29 sharing the unique experience of #Somalia. The panel hosted by UN support to SSR&G focused on strengthening national security institutions during climate crisis.

A nation’s sovereignty is safeguarded by the wisdom of mature policies, the vigilance of its citizens, and the unwavering resolve to protect it from every angle.

Somalia is actively engaging with the AU and potential TCCs for AUSSOM. The mandate of AUSSOM allows FGS to determine TCC participation. A decision will be announced soon, aligning with our national priorities. The spirit of the Ankara Declaration remains strong and alive.

Being part of the UNSC is a privilege. We will proudly serve our continent, those with whom we share values and objectives, & above all, our people and national priorities. FGS is taking this responsibility very seriously and has already established the necessary infrastructure.
