Another big statement against the Senate bill. The trade union representing 860,000 electrical workers says the bill will cost "hundreds of thousands of good-paying construction jobs." I hadn't seen this statement reported anywhere else.

It'd be nice if he took some responsibility for creating this problem, but he ain't wrong. Also, thank god he can't run for President himself.

"I promise to not raise your taxes" and "I promise to not cut your benefits" are the two popular political promises that are inconsistent with the much more needed promise "I promise to cut the budget deficit to about 3 percent of GDP" that is required to prevent a big

If you want new generation, your only viable option over the next ~3 years is solar/wind/BESS based on timeline to procure/deploy other tech. A few implications: This bill doesnโ€™t kill RE near term, it just makes it more expensive, thatโ€™ll mostly be carried by rate payers.

I love how the right romanticizes coal - as if every movie about a coal town wasnโ€™t about someone trying to escape because the jobs suck and everyone dies of black lung or mine collapse - and burning it isnโ€™t an expensive way to cause respiratory disease and hasten global warming

Iโ€™ve been thinking a lot about Murkowskiโ€™s vote. It contains, in one action, so much that defines our pathetic political moment: Selfishness: Iโ€™m taking care of me and mine, the rest of you can pound sand; Lack of accountability: I know the bill is bad, hopefully someone else

Not long ago, I would have said thereโ€™s no way in hell that this could happen in America, but that was then and this is now. So, hereโ€™s the scenario that could unfold:

Got flooded with โ€œgo back to your countryโ€ and โ€œAmerica doesnโ€™t need youโ€ on my H-1B tweet. America is 4.1% of the world. Even if Americans were 10X more likely to be geniuses, 70% would still be born elsewhere. Elon Musk, Jensen Huang, and Sergey Brin werenโ€™t born American.

ICE vehicles waste a whopping 80% of energy in their fuel. EVs are propelled by entirely different mechanisms. Energy enters the vehicle as electricity, which directly powers the drivetrain: EVs need not convert one form of energy to another resulting in much higher efficiency.

Death to early decision, death to legacy admissions! Colleges and Universities talk a big game about ethics, public service, etc, then run themselves like the Trump administration. Next they'll start issuing meme coins and selling NFTs and gilded sneakers. nytimes.com/2025/12/10/opiโ€ฆ

SF teacher's union isn't negotiating in good faith. Every day they delay costs the district ~$8M. Teachers need a better contract but the district has budget realities they'd be irresponsible to neglect. District has compromised, union needs to as well. sfchronicle.com/sf/article/teaโ€ฆ
