Allodoxa (S3r) Jesse Singal but there’s a whole range of opinons that all get lumped into that bigot camp by the same rhetoric you’re using right now.

For example, therapists who argue that there are many different reasons people want transition therapies (which any trans person will tell you),

Allodoxa (S3r) Jesse Singal and that the therapists job should be to figure out whether or not that’s the right pathway for the patient, (“exploratory therapy”) will get lumped into bigot category, called a gatekeeper etc.

Allodoxa (S3r) Jesse Singal it’s total bullshit. i know clinicians who quit because of this idiocy.

Meanwhile lots of clinicians who call themselves “gender affirming” are actually just doing “exploratory” i.e. “gatekeeping therapy anyways, because it seems like common sense.

it’s a big shitshow.

What is Politics? Jesse Singal 'I know someone' isn't evidence dude, and if it were I could match every one of your anecdotes with 10 of trans kids who were gatekept from care on the grounds that they weren't competent to make decisions about their own identity.

Allodoxa (S3r) Jesse Singal i know a good amount of people who have been getting gender therapies from different clinicians so i hear their stories of what the care looks like, and i know a clinician who was practicing in this area and stopped.

it’s clear that the rhetoric on this topic is bullshit

What is Politics? Jesse Singal Even in the report we're talking about right now, the most consistent theme from interviewed patients was that they were dissatisfied with how slow things were going for them.

What is Politics? Jesse Singal That the people suggesting exploratory therapy are responding to a false concern (that people are being rushed into hormones or blockers without concern for what's 'best' for them).

Allodoxa (S3r) Jesse Singal but they are - by *some* clinicians. i have friends who know that if they go to the right doctor they’ll get hormones in 3 minutes. other friends go to therapists who are called ‘gender affirming’ but who in reality gatekeep and make them do a bunch of therapy first

Allodoxa (S3r) Jesse Singal if you listen to the ‘gender critical’ people, they make it seem like *all* the doctors are giving hormones like candy.

then if you listen to the cancel mob activists, they make it seem like anyone who insists on therapy first is a bigot.

it’s toxic garbage all around.
