Today we are celebrating the life of Sylvia Rivera! She was a gender non-conforming activist who was instrumental in the inclusion of trans people into the LGBT movement. The Sylvia Rivera Law Project was named in her honor and has continued her legacy of fighting for inclusion.

In honor of the end of Hispanic Heritage month, there is no better story to tell than that of Sonia Sotomayor. She is known as someone who utilizes her lived experiences to challenge the historically white & patriarchal justice system and as an advocate for girls' opportunities.

November is #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, which means it’s time to discuss how Indigenous Peoples are the original philanthropists. Indigenous Peoples’ altruism is what made survival possible for the many waves of colonial settlers who came to this land. (1/5)

(2/5)Unfortunately, the world we know today is built upon the extraction and disposition of Indigenous land, water, food, and peoples as well as enslavement and exploitation. Indigenous cultures are rooted in generosity, respect, responsibility, partnership, and reciprocity.

Native American Heritage Month is a time to educate about the rich histories and rights of Indigenous peoples. Tribal sovereignty is a cornerstone of Tribal Nations; however, it is not well understood outside of Indian Country. (1/3)

Tribal sovereignty, the right of Indigenous Peoples to govern themselves, is inherent and predates the existence of federal governments. This right has been recognized by Congress, the Constitution, statutes, and treaties. Tribal sovereignty should never be up for debate. (2/3)

Today is #NativeWomensEqualPayDay which means today is the day that native women had to work until to earn what non-Hispanic white men earned in 2021. Equitable pay is a major accelerator of wealth equity. With wealth comes power, and we need women in power more than ever.
