We must do better to make town and city halls across the province safe workplaces for women. That's why Jeff Burch and I worked with organizations like Women Of Ontario Say No on a bill that puts in place real measures to hold everyone in elected office accountable for misconduct.

Wrt #women and workplace #safety Ontario NDP tabled the Municipal Accountability & Integrity Act in consultation w/ Women Of Ontario Say No and others. #AMO2024

Thank you Marit Stiles & Ontario NDP staff for meeting with us at #AMO2024 yesterday afternoon to discuss the need to modernize legislation to support key #OnMuni services like elections administration & FOI. We look forward to working together to support our members & #LocalGov

A well known municipal politician who just saw my tweet about the abuse and threats local pols are facing, just said to me: “We’re really getting tired of nothing happening on this.” Paul Calandra has repeatedly told this audience he’s working on this, but so far, nothing #onpoli

Proud to know this Councillor & proud to stand beside her as Muni officials fr across ON to demand action on this issue. How much longer do we wait? Until someone gets hurt or killed? Because that is what this is escalating to. Please Paul Calandra we need your help. #AMO2024

Proud to lend support to The Women of Ontario Say No, an important nonpartisan group advocating for legislation to hold municipal politicians accountable for violence and harassment. My friend & colleague Jeff Burch has tabled a Private Member’s Bill to do just that. #AMO2024

It was a pleasure discussing my Municipal Accountability & Integrity Act with MUNICIPAL WORLD. We need to ensure that municipal reps cannot get away with harassment & violence in the workplace. It’s a truly non-partisan issue & I know we can work together to pass this into law.

Thank you to Women Of Ontario Say No for leading the charge on getting this important issue to be addressed. It is absolutely vital that we ensure all people have a safe working environment and that includes municipal staff and politicians.
