May Day often involved the joyous gathering of boughs & flowers. Hawthorn branches adorned with May blossoms were used to decorate the door. Mountain ash was also hung to protect from evil spirits & Rosemary tied with white ribbon was gifted to admired maidens

In Kingstone & Thruxton, Herefordshire, folk believed that Fairies were little people who often invaded peoples homes to steal items. It was customary on the eve of May to place a tray of moss outside the door at night for them to dance upon #folkloresunday

Nocturnal mystery is embodied by our closest heavenly body, the moon. In Welsh Marches lore, the first new moon of the year provided the best time for divination, with the amount of moons seen when peering through a handkerchief indicating the years till marriage #FolkloreSunday
