On September 12, 1967, President Lyndon B. Johnson and First Lady Lady Bird Johnson hosted a “Country Fair” celebration on the White House South Lawn. The fair, designed for the children of government officials, featured a Ferris wheel, farm animals, games, and a dance floor.
