👏 Celebrating Ph.D. trainee Jordyn VanPortfliet! Jordyn is a visiting Ph.D. candidate from TAMU Genetics and Genomics, working in the A. Phillip West at The Jackson Laboratory. She was recently awarded an F31, "Targeting the Nrf2 axis to reduce lung immunopathology in PolG-related mitochondrial disease."

Just returned from the #EMBOmitochondrialGene meeting. Great talks, posters, & networking. The excursion to Warsaw Old Town and the Gala dinner were especially cool! Thanks to @NCL_mtDNA, Hauke Hillen, Joanna Rorbach, and Roman Szczesny for organizing!

Delighted to share the last study of the lab led by the fantastic postdoc Luis Carlos Tábara Rodríguez out in Cell !!! We show how MTFP1 controls mitochondrial fusion to regulate inner membrane quality control and maintain mtDNA levels. MRC MBU Cambridge University authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S00…

Very excited to share our paper outline a new role for on Cytotoxic T-cells in anthracycline cardiotoxicity out today in Nature Cardiovascular Research nature.com/articles/s4416…

Why do we itch? Ask your immune system, and Dr. Sokol and colleagues. They provide a simple and elegant answer to this timeless question. Kudos to the authors on this fascinating discovery. nature.com/articles/s4158… Caroline Sokol MDPhD Harvard Medical School

It was awesome hosting Dr. Raquel Sitcheran via the The Jackson Laboratory Cancer Center Visiting Scientist Program. We made significant progress on collaborative projects related to macrophage immunometabolism and non-canonical NF-κB signaling in cancer. Thanks The Jackson Laboratory for your support!

🎉Due to the unwavering hard work, dedication and commitment of faculty and staff, JAX received an overall rating in the Exceptional range on our National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Center renewal, the highest possible ranking for a U.S. cancer center. This is the JAX Cancer Center’s best

This is a great article on choosing a lab and mentor-mentee relationships from an outstanding former TAMU Genetics and Genomics PhD student. Great job Kelsi West ! opensciencetraining.org/blog/2024-12-1…

Congratulations to Omkar Shinde and Pingwei Li for resolving the cryo-EM structures of free and cGAMP-bound ABCC1. This paper follows on the great work from Dan Stetson revealing ABCC1 as a cGAMP exporter. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

A map of mitochondrial biology reveals the energy landscape of the human brain Wonderful and fun collaboration with Michel Thiebaut de S and many others! Anna Monzel Orian Shirihai Ayelet Rosenberg was the courageous one who tackled this project, and Eugene Mosharov was the engine

Excited to alert you to a new Fusion Conference this October in Malta. #IOSCD25 will cover: • Organelle Crosstalk • DNA Damage & Inflammation • Organelles in Innate Immune Signaling • Organelle Communication in Disease & Aging fusion-conferences.com/conference/182… Fusion Conferences
