Native willow trees in flower along your local river! They're a special early resource for pollinators. You may also notice the catkins vary, this is because unlike some trees, the willow is dioecious, meaning plants are either female or male.

The surprising energy of ephemeral winterbourne (winter flowing) #ChalkStream

A small blockage (red) on this ford caused scour, throwing up gravel (green), diverting the stream out of its artificially bunded/perched channel (orange) and back into its natural floodplain course.
