Great to see some new native trees 🌳(Alder & Willow) planted along the river Test near Bransbury🌤️.
These trees will provide food and habitat to a myriad of different taxa including birds, bats and even fish! 🐦🦇🐟
Funded by the Test and Itchen Catchment Partnership.

If you don't look you can't see. The stat monitoring programme focuses on the impact of water companies and is blind to organic Phosphours, soil loss, coliforms and most of the cocktail of chemicals. The ecology of our rivers is not. gov.wales/written-statem…

March 2022 vs March 2024 🦫

What happens if dams breach/drain and beavers have moved on?

It’ll be interesting to see what happens next, whether the beavers return/rebuild or whether something else develops, and what that means for fish and other wildlife.🤔

Spring tide between Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton this morning.
Sewage discharges presumably being pushed back onto the shore 🤢

Mike Blackmore Feargal Sharkey Yes of course pollution needs fixing but improving habitat provides resilience and refuge against the urban flashy flows that this river experiences.

It’s time for policymakers to take water seriously. They haven’t in the past, but it’s not too late.
Rivers need
- stronger regulation / enforcement
- better strategic planning
- stronger policies on housing / water efficiency
- help soils be a sponge - more regenerative farming

💥Wild beavers have completely transformed this secluded Wiltshire woodland valley.

One of the new pools appears to be being used as a watering hole for wild boar.

Unplanned, unconstrained, unmonitored. It’s just happening!

When 0% of English rivers are in good overall health, this is not the time to tip the balance further away from environmental improvement.
We signed Wildlife and Countryside Link response to the consultation and are seriously concerned that Government plans to push head with Growth Duty for Ofwat.

Profit💰 over protection 🌎

Regulation must
“be implemented in a way that provides the right foundation for our economy to thrive”…
“consider the desirability of growth”…
”minimising burdens on business productivity”…

This is awful news for our rivers 😡😢
