The news of the stabbing in Odd Down yesterday is deeply distressing. Thank you to Avon and Somerset Police for dealing with the incident so swiftly, and to staff RUH Bath ๐ฅ for their crucial support. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim, their family and friends at this difficult time.
No one should be prevented from travelling due to a lack of accessibility measures - but sadly this is a reality for many across the UK. That's why we Liberal Democrats are committed to fighting for a fair deal for all passengers, and will call on the government to do the same.๐
Fantastic to see we've reduced almost 40% of emissions in B&NES in recent years. Around 1/3 of our emissions are caused by the electricity & gas we use at home - that's why energy-efficiency measures are vital ๐ The progress B&NES Council has made in these key areas is brilliant ๐
We Liberal Democrats welcome the steps in the government's Bill to ban bonuses and introduce sentences for greedy water bosses. But these measures don't go far enough. We need to overhaul this disgraced industry and bring in a tough new regulator to end the sewage scandal for good.
Years of Conservative neglect have pushed prisons to breaking point - there's no time to waste in fixing this mess. We Liberal Democrats have long called to resolve this crisis by cutting reoffending and tackling the court backlog to reduce the number of people in prison on remand.
