I recently had the opportunity to speak at Mizzou discussing fragmentation in local and state policy making. United WE is proud to partner with institutions like this on research projects that create solutions and results for these issues.

Congratulations to Paula Landoll-Smith and Suzan Barnes on their recent reappointments by Gov. Laura Kelly. With support from our Appointments Project, both women bring an important perspective to the Kansas community.

In honor of #InternationalWomensDay , I think of all the women who have used their voice to better their communities. My favorite example is Madeleine Albright who said it best, 'It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.'

What drew me to United WE, was its mission to advance all women’s economic and civic leadership to make meaningful change. During #WomensHistoryMonth , United WE will recognize women who have paved the way in fulfilling this important cause.

Thank you MEDC for having me speak at the Economic Issues Summit. It was a privilege to be on a panel discussing the current state of child care and the economic implications in the state of Missouri.

Today United WE will testify on Missouri SB742 which would create child care tax credits for families, employers, & providers. Sponsored by Lauren Arthur, this bill will help to reduce the child care barriers limiting women and their economic opportunities in Missouri.

The Missouri child care tax credit bill passed out of the committee today; a step in the right direction to support local child care accessibility. I applaud Representative Brenda Shields, the Committee Chair and House Leadership for their support in getting this bill passed.

Today we honor and celebrate all of the brave men and women who protect and serve our country. May we always remember the sacrifices made by our heroes and honor their legacy. Thank you, Veterans!

A silent more pervasive reality for families is that their childcare fees will gradually increase, and they will spend more income than they already are on childcare. That is more of a slow-moving catastrophe for families than the sudden closure of childcare facilities.

Today we announced the United WE Institute, a hub for all research, conducted and curated by United WE and our policy activities. I am thrilled to continue moving the needle toward gender equity with this new initiative!
