The monumental Repertory has reached the Netherlands! Eagerly awaited and finally here on my desk. Not only will it have a resounding impact on scholarship, but also on the amount of bookshelf space left to me. Just being facetious here - congratulations Welsh Manuscripts NLW Archivist!

A long shot perhaps, but does anyone have an example of the hand of Christopher Hatton, 1st Baron Hatton (1605–70), or know where one may be found? #TwitterHistorians

A number of highly important Peniarth manuscripts have recently been digitised by National Library of Wales, including the mid-13th-century lawbook 'Llyfr Colan' (Peniarth 30), doubtless of Gwynedd origin, and one of Lewys Glyn Cothi's holograph collections of poetry (Peniarth 70).

It's heartbreaking to see the current state of Nannau and Rhiwedog, two cornerstones of the bardic tradition in Meirionnydd. The latter, where the White Book of Rhydderch briefly found a home in the late 16th century, is currently for sale for £100,000.

It's always a humbling experience when you think you've made a big discovery then realise that someone (in this case the late Prof. R. Geraint Gruffydd) got there way before you.

8) We need much more research on the ownership of printed books in early modern Wales - and Welsh country house libraries in general. [END]
