Molly Hogan of WelcomeHomeCoalition dropping the truth! It costs $51k a year to JUST jail someone (if they don’t go to these camps)… and $20k less to put someone in a private market housing with services for that same year. That $51k doesn’t even count sweeps costs, cleanup, etc.
Stand w/ our friends at WelcomeHomeCoalition and ROC to resist mayor Wheeler's $27 million for mass homeless encampments and ask that they use these critical dollars to support sustainable housing strategies. Sign up to testify by 1pm. Testimony begins at 2pm. portland.gov/council/agenda
"As the region’s main agency addressing homelessness, how much input was JOHS given in the city’s recent plan to ban homeless camping and create camps?" "Zero. We had zero conversations with the city of Portland about this plan before it was announced." portlandmercury.com/Housing/2022/1…
We are so excited to share that our member organization Central City Concern held its opening of the Starlight! The new building offers 100 new affordable units - 70 of which are permanently supportive units for folks experiencing chronic homelessness! ow.ly/xbTa50LZ2ZE

Was great to share with our many partners at WelcomeHomeCoalition to meet with the new Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson and discuss the proven housing solutions we all work on every day!
Today, Welcome Home connected with Multnomah County Commissioner Susheela Jayapal. We spent time sharing the work being done by member organizations to address our region’s housing crisis with compassionate and innovative programs. We look forward to continuing to collaborate!
