Differentiating vegetation from other vegetation (i.e. in crop recognition) is a big challenge that needs larger datasets/ benchmarking. If you have time/data it would be great to get feedback on contributing to Weed-AI.

🚨New dataset alert🚨 The DeepWeeds dataset (originally published in 2019 by Alex Olsen from AutoWeed) is now available on Weed-AI. 17492 images with 8 different invasive weed species annotated at the classification level. Find it here: weed-ai.sydney.edu.au/datasets/71318… 🎯🌿🌱

You can read about some of the recent results of annual ryegrass/turnipweed detection in wheat below - difficult, but doable at certain growth stages and with enough data. Plus, the datasets used are all available on Weed-AI!

We need to start building a weed id image library, publicly owned, and accurate. Farmers taking pics and submitting accurate weed names may be the only way this will ever happen. If we do all the work, shouldn't we own it as well?
