Responsible AI has a burnout problem | MIT Technology Review Companies say they want ethical AI. But those working in the field say that ambition comes at their expense technologyreview.com/2022/10/28/106…

We must move away from treating "race" as a demographic attribute toward treating race as a by-product of racism. How you treat race informs research questions, data & results, and conclusions. Choose wisely!

I really think America is going to be in the same 20-25 yr loop, because the people who were responsible for Iraq, Afghanistan, and the banking crisis were never held accountable. None of them paid for their crimes. The same shit keeps happening because who’s gonna stop them?

Be wary of academics racialized as White who champion "diversity" but never talk about the overwhelming presence of people racialized as White.

As a lesson in "identity politics", responding to the Tiktok hearing with we need more tech people in politics is also not the answer. There are tech people in politics...and that's why these hearings happened. We need tech people with a specific lens and framework. Be specific.

All I'm saying is: Civil rights legislation was about *trying* to change the behaviors of people racialized as White rather than rectifying the structural conditions of people racialized as Black. Thus, racial inequality persists.

Non-profits are a capitalist solution to capitalist problems. They are not here to liberate anyone, quite the contrary. When the pandemic hit & ppl were losing jobs executive staff at my job said “well at least it’s good for us bc we’ll get more contracts for more shelters” LMFAO

Today is Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, but to drive home the point maybe it should be rebranded as Black Women’s Unequal Pay Day. Thanks PowHerNY for raising the issue that Black women workers must also benefit from the billions of fed $$ allocated to infrastructure improvements

I will die on this hill. DEI and abstract social justice narratives give antiBlack racist students and scholars an institutionalized place to hide.

I’m flipping the narrative on Black Maternal Mortality to Black Maternal VITALITY!!! Black women & birthing people do enjoy healthy, joyful, vibrant pregnancies, deliveries, & postpartum periods & those stories must be celebrated. Stories of full abundant life! More to come…

As a reminder: poor people are poor because they don’t have money, not because they don’t know the advantages of a ROTH IRA vs a Traditional, or the differences between a bond and a CD. We need wealth redistribution through equitable programs.

Much of the opposition to DEI is based on the premise that a Black person with any measure of power or authority will automatically treat white people like white people with power have historically treated Black people.
