Today I am participating in the orientation meeting for Women's International Peace Centre staff on the Women's Situation Room (WSR) Mechanism of building a culture of peace & tolerance in Uganda. This is hoped to increase understanding and appreciation of the WSR mechanism among staff.

As part of the #UG4Peace Activity supported by USAID Uganda, 2 District Peace Committees have been established in Gulu & Mbarara as key structures in the peace architecture whose function is critical in mitigating, preventing & responding to conflict within this electoral cycle.

Mbarara District Peace Committee chaired by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) is undergoing the 1st phase of the capacity building workshop in conflict prevention before, during & after the elections. This Committee is an early warning & early response mechanism that will
