It means Chinese Australian voters do not determine election results, as some orchestrated campaign from pro-China think tank such as UTS ACRI wants you to believe. It’s because the Chinese diaspora is extremely diversify and not all of them support pro-China candidates

Yeah. Some HK migrants I know tend to overthink the importance of Australia-China relationship in Australian election outcomes, when in fact even most Chinese migrants would vote on cost of living etc issues instead. Hence pro-China Libs in Banks and Bennelong lost but pro-China

Wai Ling Yeung Yes, Australians with Chinese ethnicity seem at least as likely to not want to live under Xi Jinping's CCP as other Australians. They're obviously also more likely to understand the ugly realities of that regime.

My understanding is that some in the ALP are using Chinese Australians as a generic term to push for an anti-USA and anti-AUKUS agenda. No one voice speaks for Chinese Australians, which is not a homogeneous group. Opinion in the Chinese diaspora is diverse.

The move by the Chinese Communist Party to “detain and question Joe Tay 鄭敬基’s cousin and the man’s wife in Hong Kong” is the definition of transnational repression. The CCP are sending a message: if you criticize them, then there’s nothing they won’t do. This must be condemned;

The Law Society of South Australia has spoken out against attempts to intimidate lawyer Ted Hui (Chi-fung Hui), which coincides with Hong Kong’s ruthless authoritarian turn in recent years. I’m not holding my breath for the Law Society of Hong Kong to speak out in my defence.
