Keenan Anderson—a 31-year-old high school teacher & father—stopped LA police for help after an accident. They instead cuffed him, pinned him, & tased him repeatedly as he begged them to stop. Keenan died of cardiac arrest from excessive tasing. His crime—asking police for help.

I'm really proud of this work - investigating how generative models may negatively represent people with disabilities, and highlighting the importance of including PWD in model evaluations #FAccT2023

Thinking of my sister today. Harvard was a singular obsession with my mom during my childhood and it became my sister’s singular obsession throughout her short life. It became my own source of insecurity as a 2.8 GPA Asian (we exist) who sucked at math and standardized tests.

So grateful to have received a Google Research Scholar Award, in collaboration with Alicia Boyd, PhD, for exploring disability representation in generative AI. Thank you @justaturbo for valuable feedback, and my students, Sneha and Wenhan, for their hard work on this project :)
