Full 'alba' Green-winged orchids are uncommon in my local colony (1st pic). However it does have a few plants where the stem and hood lack colour but the lip is fully coloured

Went out for a spin ... a few new roadside spp ... Ophrys sphegodes ssp. atrata, Ophrys bertolonii, Orchis quadripunctata .... sadly the Himantoglossum robertianum are over. Happy days 💜🇭🇷

It's a little baffling why it's taken Red Kites quite so long to colonise West Hants and Dorset. Seen loads around the M3 for years. Anyway, they seem to have bridged the gap in recent times - and this beauty was in the Avon Valley a couple of miles south of Ringwood. 13.04.23.

Early Spider Orchid (Ophrys sphegodes) in Dorset, 12.04.24. This freshly opened flower had a gorgeous reddish tingle to the lip and petals.
