🦷🪥 Tracheostomy Mouth Care Week 2023 🪥🦷👄 comes to an end… It has been a busy week but valuable week focusing on oral hygiene across the region. Common themes from this week:

1. Access to dental services for tracheostomised patients has improved due to the fantastic regional SCD service.

2. You don’t need specialist equipment to provide mouth care. High street SLS toothpaste, a standard toothbrush and oral suction is sufficient.

3. NBM does NOT mean that oral hygiene is not as important and this should be incorporated into morning and night routine for the patient.

4. Whilst mouth care reduces infection, it also supports oro motor control, provides routine to the day along with ADL rehab, maintains dignity and comfort and so much more! #EveryMouthCounts #MDTApproach #EveryInterventionCounts
