On the 2nd of April 2005, a Royal Australian Navy Westland WS-61 Sea King helicopter crashed on he Indonesian island of Nias. Of the 11 onboard, 9 were killed (6 from the Royal Australian Navy and 3 from the Royal Australian Airforce) and 2 survived. We will remember them.

Born in 1883, Herbert Selmar Conrad was the oldest son of Albert and Elizabeth Conrad. He served with the South Australian Contingent in the Boer War, and with the 16th Battalion in the First World War. He was killed during a battle at Quinn's Post on 2 May 1915. #WW1 #WWI

This morning, we visited Adelaide Botanic High School for their Anzac Day service. It was a moving ceremony, excellently managed by student leaders. Our own Robert Kearney OAM was the keynote speaker, and he talked about the importance of remembrance.
