The Urbana Fire Department received a call for a working house fire around 3 PM. A working smoke detector alerted the occupants. We were assisted by Champaign Fire Dept

Southeast Urbana was hit hard last night by high winds that toppled trees and damaged houses. METCAD received one call last night that a funnel cloud was sighted near Race Street and Windsor Road. A tornado was not confirmed. Goe here for more: urbanaillinois.us/stormmay2019

City crews will remove debris from City trees in the right of way. Homeowners are responsible for tree and brush removal for trees on private property. We encourage residents to contact their insurance companies for information and assistance.

Urbana Police and Fire Department personnel are patrolling the area in search of individuals in need of assistance. We have had no reports of injuries due to the storm. Urbana Public Works crews are out in force with clean-up operations. All roads are passable.
