If a student is prepared to succeed in a course more advanced than their grade level, by law they should now have access to that challenge.  One size does not fit all. IAGC @CTDatNU Fordham Institute Jonathan Plucker #CPS #DelayedProgress #UntappedPotential

Hispanic students comprise 46 percent of total CPS students, but only 25 percent of seats in elementary gifted programs. Chicago has already waited too long to equitably include students in gifted programs. Chalkbeat Chicago Adeshina Emmanuel #UntappedPotential #CPS #Chicago

I've been vocal recently about the poor quality of reporting about advanced education. So I want to point out when a solid, well-crafted piece appears in the media, and this one struck me as fair and balanced. Kudos to Adeshina Emmanuel for a solid piece of reporting. NAGC

Additionally, Evanston is home to the Center for Talent Development, which knows acceleration policy better than anyone. CPS has plenty of resources at its disposal.

No slides needed for this very personal, powerful presentation by Robin Lake - talking about the need to personalize the educational experience for every student. It can be done. It must be done. @CRPE_UW Untapped Potential Project #EDventure18 #AgeOfAgility

Less than two years after Illinois started using taxpayer dollars to send students to private schools, newly-elected Gov. JB Pritzker wants to kill the scholarship program. More than 7,000 kids have the scholarships. wbez.org/shows/wbez-new…

Far too many bright students, especially the country’s most disadvantaged, are denied opportunities to be screened for gifted and talented programs. gadf.ly/2Ft2aCD

I am sick of hearing from desperate parents who have been told by Seattle Public Schools that they have to choose between #SpEd services & a gifted program for their child. This is wrong & illegal. Neal Morton Paige Cornwell Allison Hertog Beth Hawkins Beth Sigall
