Today’s jobs report marks another chapter in America’s comeback. With the report of 303,000 new jobs in March, we've passed the milestone of 15 million jobs created since I took office. That’s 15 million more people who have the dignity and respect that comes with a paycheck.

Let's be very clear: We must protect the right to protest, academic freedom, and free speech. These values are essential to college campuses and to our nation. At the same time we condemn antisemitism, anti Muslim and anti Arab hate speech and violence.

The GOP calls to bring in the national guard are dangerous.. The national guard should not be used to attack students exercising their freedom of speech. Thankfully President Biden and other leaders are rejecting that.

It's particularly galling that the people who excuse the domestic terrorists at the Capitol on Jan 6th are calling for violence against mostly peaceful student protests. It really shows you how little they value the rights of Americans.

When we look back at protest movements of the past - especially ones on college campuses - we always condemn violence against the protests. Let's hold those lessons close right now and not repeat the mistakes of the past.
