Happening now in Musanze District ,The Deputy Director General in charge of animal resources development, Dr. Solange Uwituze ,is officially kicking-off a 4-day workshop on validation of standard operation procedures (SoPs) in the pig value chain in #Rwanda ,which is on its day3.

Pig value chain players are discussing standard operating procedures for managing semen donor boars, collecting, evaluating, and processing pig semen, as well as standard operating procedures for handling pig semen and artificial insemination.

Day four of a SoPs validation workshop came to an end with a group presentation on standardizing transportation, semen handling, packaging and insemination of a pig.

#RCVD and UMUCYO VETCONSULT LTD inaugurated 1st Swine Artificial Insemination accredited course for 15 vets, valued at 15 credit points as part of #Continous professional development (#CPD). Trained practitioners are expected to assist farmers in enhancing pig genetic improvement in Rwanda.

Dr. Solange Uwituze ,DDG for Animal Resources Development, chaired a certification ceremony for 20 outstanding pig multipliers and breeders, organized in partnership with USAIDHanga_Akazi ,and attended by various guests, including KAMANA André, the VM-FED Huye District , among others.

In her speech, Dr. Solange Uwituze highlighted that the certification event signifies the start of a journey to ensure quality products reach the market, urging pig breeders and multipliers to embrace their role as recordkeepers for enhancing the pig value chain.
