Exploratory work was conducted by⁩ ⁦University of Nairobi Faculty of Scie & Technology⁩ ⁦⁦⁦SoGE, University of Oxford⁩ and ⁦Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)⁩ supported by⁩ ⁦FCDO Research, Science and Technology⁩ ⁦Natural Environment Research Council⁩ ⁦⁦Economic and Social Research Council⁩ ⁦UPGro Programme⁩

The first of ten boreholes has been drilled in the high yielding paleochannel found by Prof Dan Olago of University of Nairobi during his UPGro Programme hydrogeological survey. These will supply the water for the new municipal system.

2.2 billion people (30% of the world’s population) lack safe water at home. The solution could be just beneath our feet – Groundwater resources. Let’s tap into this hidden resource and make it visible and accessible to the communities. #WorldWaterDay #WorldWaterDay2022
