🔴 Breaking: More floods hit #Afghanistan — most affected is Ghor Province where 2500 families were impacted.

WFP assessment teams are on the ground now to be able to deploy assistance as soon as possible.

UN DSRSG/RC/HC Indrika Ratwatte visited Baghlan Province, northern #Afghanistan , to oversee vital aid efforts by United Nations agencies for communities affected by recent deadly flash floods & met with de facto Dep. PM for Econ. Affairs to discuss ensuring effective humanitarian response.

UNAMA is deeply shocked and appalled by the deadly terrorist attack on unarmed civilians and tourists in Bamyan, central #Afghanistan .
We express our condolences to the victims of the attack, and are providing assistance following the incident.

In Afghanistan, explosives kill or injure 2 people every day and 8 out of 10 casualties are children. During my visit, I had the pleasure to meet those working to mitigate and respond to this threat. UNMAS & partners need support to carry out their life-saving humanitarian work.

Today, Indrika Ratwatte visited Baghlan province with UNHCR Afghanistan Deputy Representative, Terhas Berhe, to see first-hand the support UNHCR and other UN agencies are delivering to Afghans affected by recent flash floods in northeastern Afghanistan.

Under-Secretary-General Jean-Pierre Lacroix (seen here with the UNMAS team in Kabul) visited #Afghanistan to raise awareness of the impact of Explosive Ordnance ( #EO ) on Afghan communities and to support the mobilization of resources for mine action in the country.

Recent flash floods in Northeastern Afghanistan serve as a somber reminder of the country's vulnerability to climate shocks.
Greater support and solidarity with the people of Afghanistan is needed to prevent greater tragedies.

On the ground in northern Afghanistan, we're responding to flash floods with a plan! Together with UN Afghanistan and partners, we're providing community kitchens, transitional shelters, cash-for-work programs, and rebuilding vital infrastructure.

Thousands of Afghans are urgently in need of assistance in the aftermath of severe flash floods in Northeastern Afghanistan.

UNHCR and partners are on ground to deliver critical aid including emergency shelter, clothing and other relief items to those affected.

The #AfghanistanFlood impacted some of the most vulnerable communities in the country.
