#BirthEquity is the assurance of the conditions of optimal births for all people with a willingness to address racial and social inequalities in a sustained effort (defined AAFP) #Doula & #midwifery childbirth services can provide optimal care and support for parents. #BMHW24
During #BlackMaternalHealthWeek it's important to recognize how the changing reproductive climate, since the overturn of Roe v. Wade, has disproportionately affected Black birthing people. #ReproductiveRights need to be protected for all of those who are seeking care. #BMHW24
The Black #maternalmortality rate has been historically high in the US. Lower quality healthcare, structural racism, implicit bias from healthcare providers, & underlying chronic conditions contribute to these disparities and a change needs to happen because #BlackMamasMatter
During #BMHW we stand to acknowledge, elevate, & address issues faced by #BlackMothers . Despite the advancements in health care, disparities in #BlackMaternalHealth persist. Let's take part in conversations, engage in events, & support orgs advocating for Black Maternal Health.
