In the meantime folks, don't drink the water or worry about vanishing wildlife, flooded farms & streets, rising food prices, cold, unaffordable homes & dirty air cutting lives short or global climate change & ecological breakdown. It's not 1997. When will Keir Starmer look up?

Today is Romani Resistance Day.

On this day, 16th May 1944, Roma and Sinti people in Auschwitz-Birkenau resisted Nazi soldiers, delaying executions in the ‘Gypsy Camp’ for several months.

We honour the bravery and strength of all the Roma and Sinti people.

Swallows arrive in the UK to nest and breed from the end of February. They feed on small insects, and use mud to build their cup-shaped nests. Swallow numbers have declined across Europe since 1970, in line with insect loss.

Brilliantly blue British cornflowers. These iconic and distinctive flowers are fantastic for bees, beetles, butterflies and moths and are a simply marvellous addition to any wildlife garden.

Today I'm admiring this increasingly scarce plant from the campion family: ragged robin, or Silene flos-cuculi. The Latin refers to the fact that it flowers at the same time the cuckoos are calling!

Have you seen this, or heard cuckoos calling?

Lobbing a ball into the water for dogs seems like harmless fun. But, their feet tear up and kill off Water Crowfoot.

Instead of prioritising road maintenance and better public transport, the Government is trying to bulldoze through damaging and expensive road schemes.

These make no economic sense and do little to address congestion.

Please help us stop them

I'm disgusted that a bunch of MPs would name a (possibly junior) official to Secretary of State because they don't like their scientific assessment (as if they know any better)

In the private or charity sector, this kind of behaviour would be considered bullying & harassment

Blackthorn time in the Claylands.

200 years ago this was common land, now a well used track between fields, linking two commons.

Good Friday Grass, actually a little wood rush. Easy to find in old church yards, or here on a common. Tiny, so get down low, fish out the hand lens and look closely.

Moschatel (town hall clocks) in one of the woods impacted by the Norwich Western Link road. All subtle spring loveliness.

One of four ancient woodland plants we found, but sadly not recognised as ancient wood.

🤞🏼for the end of the road.

🚨Conservatives seeking to sneak through vote on roads policy on 26 March, minutes before MPs go on Easter recess.🚨

Despite Climate Change Committee calling for a review of the roads programme, ministers ignored it. If approved, road scheme decisions will be required to ignore climate impact.

This big oak tree was a sapling when Elizabeth I was on the throne.

Given the parlous in the UK, we cannot afford to lose such treasures.

Yet this could all soon be a road.

Can only say:
