A lovely autumn walk up to #lockopark late morning and a good for Chats with a Wheatear on a nearby track and two pairs of Stonechat (one pair back on a traditional winter territory). Skylarks moving, Meadow Pipits (c10) arriving & a clear out of Hirundines 🍂 Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS)
Even on a 'quiet' day there is plenty to see Attenborough Reserve & often close up! A day later than expected (courtesy of Storm Amy) and we are nearly on our way Arran - Some nice waders from Troon harbour with Golden (28) Plover, Sanderling (c15), Ringed Plover, Turnstone, Curlew & Redshank with RT Diver & Eider on the water Jim Cassels
Arran day 2 - A first Golden Eagle of the holiday with a well marked immature bird trying to panic a Red Deer hind above Lochranza with a Redwing over and a Dipper, Black Guillemot & 7 Red Breasted Merganser on the sea with two gorgeous Red Squirrel in the village Jim Cassels
Arran Day 3 - Brill walk over the top to Laggan in mixed weather and witnessed two pairs of evenly matched Stags locking antlers on route! Returned in time for it brightening up and an Eagle-fest over Lochranza with up to 4 Goldies including this perched bird Jim Cassels
Arran Day 4 - Glen Rosa chucked quite a lot of weather at us on our walk this afternoon including about 10 minutes of sunshine! Well worth the soaking though for a pair of Golden Eagle and a ringtail Hen Harrier in the most gorgeous surroundings Jim Cassels
