Preserving existing trees is the other part, creating local groups dedicated to the care & protection of all trees in their community is also another, as brilliantly set out by Haringey Tree Protectors.
I visited the Oakfield plane to witness Haringey Council taking the urban warfare component of the war on nature to a whole new level. 8 security guards ringing the fencing & guard platform up in the tree: jaw dropping to see this Orwellian & destructive waste of taxpayers money

But unlike chainsawing, it can’t happen overnight. Perhaps in 20 years’ time ‘tree coverage’ in our Borough will increase. But the medium-term outlook is for steady reduction in urban greening.

A brilliant human scarred by a scandal in which she was found to have done nothing wrong. Because being cleared is never as famous as being accused. She was kind and good and better than most of us. And she improved the lives of thousands of children. theguardian.com/society/2024/j…
New Year’s Day talk Friends of Bruce Castle Park 🌳 with TottenhamTrees. Discussing how to read old tree landscapes by recording their fungi & beetles. Decaying wood associated species are hard to find & ID but they are the hidden key to unlocking the secrets of #WoodPasture.
Not again! I have NOT given my permission to be used in political adverts. This is NOT an endorsement by me in any way. I maintain strict party neutrality and am unhappy at the weaponizing of my reputation in this way. While this isn't as bad as the first terrible representation
