Fracking (aka hydraulic stimulation) is enabling enhanced geothermal, a new terawatt scale clean firm energy resource that is being invented and scaled in America (and hopefully will soon be exported around the world) using expertise & a skilled workforce developed in oil & gas.

Zeker nu investeringen in andere industriële sectoren lager liggen.

And that includes the EU ETS cost of CO2, which due to marginal pricing (and imho suboptimal ETS design) fully paid also for non CO2 emitting power production.

Shock to the system 🥶 Unusually strong cold is pouring south out of the Arctic into Europe right now. This is an ideal setup for deep fresh snow accumulations in the Alps and flooding in Central Europe. This is about as cold as it gets this early in September.

The Inflation Reduction Act invests well over half a trillion dollars to ensure we are manufacturing, deploying, and consuming more clean energy technologies in America. To pay for a big chunk of it, Congress instituted a new 15% corporate minimum tax that means billion dollar

Most people don't act like homo economicus for every little decision. It would be paralyzing, because it's too complex. Perhaps ironically, those who come closest to behaving like homo economicus are the poor. From Richard Thaler's new book on behavioural economics: Misbehaving

This graphic really highlights just how much rain has fallen in central Europe in the last few days. Poland for example has doubled and in some spots tripled the record for September rainfall. Millions and millions of litres of water with no where to go.
