🎉🎉 Richmond City Council has unanimously repealed parking minimums! 🥳🥳 A huge thank you to our dedicated advocates and partner organizations who made this possible. This marks the beginning of our journey towards abundant and affordable housing for everyone in RVA!

Every year when we do our repaving program we integrate bike and ped improvements into the contract. This past fall we added protected bike facilities to all schools, including a diverter on 47th and protected intersections on Adeline. We removed ~25 parking spaces for this one.

Suburbia at its finest - Park Slope! This sort of walkable neighborhood with a gentle density, tree lined streets & a robust offering of retail/commercial amenities was the standard for suburban development in pre-war America. We'd do well to re-apply its form today!

In a proposed bill aimed to ease New York City's affordability crisis, some fines would be charged in proportion to an individual’s income on civil offenses including littering, double parking and idling in a vehicle or open container violations. nyti.ms/3nwNa14

On the calls to “Save Hopkins” from protected bike lanes: “But it was hard not to wonder if we all reach a point in our lives at which personal convenience and a fear of change become imperceptibly commingled with our sense of the common good.” nytimes.com/2023/05/30/mag…

🚨 AB 1082 🚨 is a well intentioned bill that will be a total disaster for roadway safety in CA. You think parking in bike lanes and bus stops is bad today? Wait until there are ZERO consequences. For this or ANY other parking violation. Nancy Skinner please vote NO 1/9

Great news from Mayor Eric Adams Eric Adams: "Our new rules will eliminate parking mandates for new housing across NYC and dramatically expand the options for adding more homes. If you want to build parking you still can. But we will not force people to build parking they do not want.”

We've fallen down a rabbit hole into a wonderland where most fire engine calls are in response to traffic crashes, our fire engines are too big to operate anywhere other than on wide streets and most car crashes occur because our streets are too wide. denvergazette.com/aurora/denver-…

Translation for normal people: in low supply housing markets, the lowest rent apartments jump the most in rent. In high construction housing markets, middle class apartments fall in rent the most, followed by the cheapest older apartments. Aka filtering.

Now it's 15 years! NYC is lucky to still have the likes of Sean Quinn and Josh Benson making its streets better. And each year its harder and harder to imagine the way it was before plazas!
