It’s been wonderful seeing everyone get their copies of ‘The Afterlife of Mary, Queen of Scots’ - it was a real joy to edit, and a hugely rewarding project overall. Edinburgh University Press are offering a 30% discount on the volume - use NEW30 at the checkout.

Author copies finally arrived (two weeks before I leave my academic career, of course 😂). But good to see them nevertheless!

"The student" has become in academic discourse what "the people" is in political discourse - something to be invoked in support of whatever agenda you want to push forward, irrespective of whether it would really help "students" or not.

i don’t love the fact that evangelicals keep converting to catholicism because they think it’s more based and trad but you have to admit it’s incredibly funny to watch these guys join and then a week later say “where does this ‘pope’ get off telling me what to believe”
