Clemson is having an outstanding all around sports year with top 20 finishes in football, men's basketball and current #2 ranking in baseball, plus National Championship in men's soccer and Final 4 in W soccer. But Clemson just 2-10-1 in all sports vs N C State in 2023-24.

From a Clemson standpoint, the Associated Press picked a good year to do a final poll after the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1975. That year, my sophomore year at Notre Dame the Irish finished #14. This year Clemson finished #14.

With today's Clemson's #15 final ranking in men's basketball and this week's #2 ranking in baseball and earlier final #20 ranking in football, Clemson, Alabama and Tennessee are the only 3 schools in nation currently in top 25 of coaches polls in all three sports.

When I saw Dan Hurley say last night 'UCONN has been running college basketball for the last 25-30 years,' I also thought that over the last 10 years, they have two Sweet 16s, same amount as Clemson, and 3 losing seasons to Clemson's zero.

Bit of trivia. This was Purdue's first NCAA Championship game since 1969. In that game Lew Alcindor scored 37 points for victorious UCLA. Tonight Purdue lost championship game but Zach Edey scored 37.

I don't know why people refuse to believe Jay Wright is happy with CBS, has no interest in Kentucky job. Wishful thinking.

So the NCAA women's championship game between Iowa and South Carolina drew 18.7 million fans. The last time South Carolina played in finals in 2022 it drew 4.5 million.
Will be interesting to see the ratings next year when Caitlin Clark is not in the game

Happy birthday to Danny Ford. My first five years at Clemson the basketball coach (Bill Foster) and the football coach (Ford) had birthdays on consecutive days April 1-2.

With Clemson run to Elite 8 last week, Clemson is only school that currently has a football coach who has taken a team to CFP, a baseball coach who has taken a team to College World Series and a basketball coach who has taken a team to the Elite 8.

So the two teams in history to win 5 conference tournament games to get in NCAA tournament (UConn 2012) and NC State (2024) are now a combined 10-0 in NCAA tournament.

Amazing NC State lost its last four regular season games and has now won 9 straight lose and done games. When UConn won five Big East tournament games to get in NCAA tournament in 2011-12, then won 6 in NCAA, they lost four of their last 5 regular season games.
