It was revealed by a German MP that UNOCHA told him that the situation in Tigray was not as bad during the siege as it was elsewhere in Ethiopia.

Things were bad elsewhere. But they were worse in Tigray.

UNOCHA made a series of assessments in Tigray early in the aid suspension. Not only did they fail to act, they hid the findings. No one I spoke to at USAID said that they had access to these assessments.

2. Nothing I say should be taken to mean that any suffering elsewhere in Ethiopia should be ignored. In Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Somali, and elsewhere there are innocent civilians who need aid. It is important that they get it.

I first want to make two things clear:
1. This is not a reflection on UN Humanitarian's work outside of Ethiopia. I have found them to be effective in other countries. In Palestine for example, they appear to be advocating effectively. (Someone could correct me on that if I'm wrong.)
