Pleased to announce that 12 countries in Africa will be allocated a total of 18M doses of the world’s first #malaria vaccine over the next 2 years with @Gavi support: bit.ly/44bLvOA World Health Organization (WHO) UNICEF GSK Unitaid The Global Fund MedAccess @PATHTweets USAID Global Health CDC Global Health
Insecticide treated nets remain the mainstay of malaria control in Africa and >200 million distributed each year. Really interesting paper by Hannah Koenker and colleages showing how best to maintain - the all important - high net usage. Let's hope they remain effective........
Thank you MalariaGEN for this brilliant thread on how to spot an Anopheles mosquito 🦟

Great news today: I Welcome World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations on 2 new types of insecticide-treated nets, transformative tools that will have significant impact in #malaria & contribute to #endmalaria if tailored & targeted to those that need them RBM Partnership who.int/news/item/14-0…
Experimental hut trials are good indicators of whether indoor interventions can prevent malaria. To do this, we need to understand their measurement error, as mosquitoes are tricksy. Great paper by Joseph Challenger MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis and ESSENTIALS LSTM Vector Biology folk.

Thanks for making science more accessible Ryan O'Hare & Sabine L.van Elsland!
In Africa most mosquitoes normally follow the rains. Not rapidly invading An. stephensi.
