forgiveness is important. always. my great grandmother once asked my grandmother "hawu ubumcuphile yini?" which translates to 'were you waiting for them to do you wrong' when my gran was unwilling to forgive a friend who had done her wrong...

... and this was the first time my gran had told her mother about an unpleasant experience with her friend. my great gran went on to further explain how mistakes and bad judgment are innate to us all and you can't always be ready to leave people especially when the room...

... to forgive and mend things and for your relationship to continue to flourish. my gran forgave her friend thereafter and she went on to having one of her best friendship with her till her friend passed.

you can't treat people like you've been waiting for them to do you wrong. mistakes can easily happen and its not always easy to avoid them.

maybe reconciliation may not be possible for everyone but i recommend forgiveness nonetheless. afterall forgiveness doesn't mean you should reconcile with the person you're forgiving.
