Do not understand why not every PI is hiring a statistician. There is a wealth of data showing that statisticians are very effective in making research slower, more difficult to understand for non-statisticians, analyses more expensive, results less impressive and more boring

Olivier Girard The number of review articles exploded when funded PhD studentships became commonplace c.2010. Now, everyone tries to publish the lit review from their thesis, which are really just a series of "chapterised" papers anyway. The literature is now skewed out of all recognition.
