Schools are students home away from home.
Sometimes it might be the safest place of the day for them. Offering them a welcoming & comforting place to be opens the door to reflection, creativity, learning, and endless possibilities.

Understanding, is such an important aspect of librarianship. Building relationships with students teaches them many aspects of life, but creating meaningful relationships with them allows me to learn how to better support them. It is definitely a win-win.

Well... I just bawled my eyes out! Such an amazing & necessary story. As a mother of a child w/ an eating disorder, I empathize w/ Jake & his family. As a school librarian, I'm grateful to be able to share this story with my students... Esp those who need it!
