'The Teachers’ Collection from Myatt & Co includes text suggestions, planning units & vocabulary lists linked to the National Curriculum programmes of study...We’ve been careful, in each of the units, to answer the question 'Why are we teaching this, why now?' ' 1/2

A high-quality text will

•Support pupils' vocabulary development, because the written word is of greater depth and complexity than the spoken word
•A great text will make learning accessible for all pupils

Great texts open up potential for curriculum planning.

So while I make the case that high quality texts across the curriculum are what pupils deserve, it’s also made me think that in using them I also get to know more, remember more and do more!

Mary Myatt Completely agree! Hence why we used Sabina’s book in a recent lesson! I am a huge advocate for thinking through the lesson & although not all agree, I love creating resources ☺️ x.com/mrmict/status/…

Reading The 52 Princes is an engaging way of exploring Sikhism, as well as deepening children's knowledge of Diwali. Our unit plan supports teachers to guide their classes in thinking more deeply about a variety of concepts such as justice and freedom.

Lara Bailey Mary Myatt Thank you! The Teachers' Collection is a great place to start. If you can't find a suitable one on there, it might be worth crafting your own shorter versions. Meno Academy is also great for chronological overviews and subject knowledge!

Have you tried using our tagging feature?
We have identified all the important concepts in each of our books. These appear as tags which can be clicked to find all the other books with that tag. For example, look at some of the amazing books we have with the tag 'space'!

New addition!
Geography - latitude & longitude and time zones
This book, from the Royal Observatory Greenwich, is a great reader for Upper KS2. Its history of time builds well on children's learning about space in science; it provides a well-sequenced introduction to time zones.

A great story for introducing children to the design process - specifically, designs don’t need to be perfect on the first try, but should be evaluated & improved. This book is a fun way to explore the concepts of perseverance and resilience through wacky inventions!
