This book, from the Royal Observatory Greenwich, is a great reader for Upper KS2. Its history of time builds well on children's learning about space in science; it provides a well-sequenced introduction to time zones.

A great story for introducing children to the design process - specifically, designs don’t need to be perfect on the first try, but should be evaluated & improved. This book is a fun way to explore the concepts of perseverance and resilience through wacky inventions!
