Our new blog post for End of Life Studies on my number one bugbear of “loved ones” ⬇️

John MacArtney restored my faith in academics by getting in touch to write this together after hearing my mini rant about the term on The Death Studies Podcast 🙏

The Death Studies Podcast Kate Woodthorpe absolutely brilliant podcast w Kate Woodthorpe ! could not agree more about use of the overly simplistic term 'loved ones'. Same applies when ppl use for family involvement in self-harm/suicide prevention/mental health.

Shout out to Dr Renske Visser who co-hosts one of my favourite podcasts, The Death Studies Podcast, and is now following me!🙀 The last episode with M. Alvarez made me look at my own experience with curiosity, and I usually go back to the interview with Foluke Taylor, I love it, it's tidal!

Just caught up with this episode with Professor Lucy Easthope & ♥️ it. Two key takeaways. 1: try to not hook too much into hope that things are going to get better, life is full of glory and conflicts, and it is about what we can learn & apply.

And 2: books offer comfort. Amen to that 💯
