Last year, Georgian civil society and the people protested strongly against the Russian law. Ruling party had to drop the bill and pledged never to reintroduce it. However, the government deceived its citizens. Russian style “foreign influence” bill is in the parliament again.

“The draft law’s adoption would be inconsistent with these aspirations and with EU norms and values.”

European Union made the statement about the “foreign influence” draft bill reintroduced by Georgian Dream .

Despite promises from the gov that the bill had been permanently shelved, the ruling party has reintroduced the 'foreign agents' bill, after the March protests of last year, during which the Georgian people forced the gov to abandon the bill following mass protests.

Plans by Georgia’s 🇬🇪 ruling party for a constitutional amendment restricting LGBTIQ rights are disturbing. They contradict our common values and the country's EU aspirations. We call on 🇬🇪 to adhere to the principles of equality, non-discrimination and respect for diversity.

📢📢 GEO Gov has introduced a bill that prohibits gender recognition and gender transitioning, restricts the freedom of assembly. Even worse, it prohibits the production of art that promotes LGBTQI+ related concepts.

The UNDP-supported 'Proud Families' project continues, serving as the sole initiative empowering parents of LGBTQI Georgians. Moreover, yesterday we welcomed the very first father to join the platform.

Today is February 24 - the 2nd anniversary of the start of the war by Russia in Ukraine.

Ukraine and the Ukrainian people stand firm and continue to fight.

Working with UNDP, we strive daily to empower parents of LGBTQI people. We've reached a stage where parents are initiating small projects on their own. May this mark the start of a parents’ movement in Georgia.

Representatives from LGBTQI and equality organizations met with the EU ambassador in Georgia, Pawel Herczynski to discuss human rights challenges faced by LGBTQI individuals, along with the rising trend of political homophobia.
