I am horrified and incredibly saddened by today’s news from Peja/Pec of yet another femicide.

What a privilege to observe young women @ OSCE Kosovo #GirlsTalks come into their own as change agents for their communities. They spent 5 days peer-to-peer learning on teambuilding, participation, leadership+media literacy, facilitated by #DialogueAcademy alumnae. Inspirational!

We at OSCE Kosovo support the Language Commissioner in the Office of the PM in determining respect for language compliance under applicable legislation. Steps to replace signs showing place names in official languages should follow consultation with his Office.

I welcome today’s government decision to instruct the Cadastral Agency to implement the 2016 Constitutional Court ruling concerning 24 hectares of land by registering ownership of the Visoki Dečani monastery, as required. Implementation will maintain respect for the rule of law.

Verification by KQZKosova of signatures in support of votes on recall of mayors in all 4 northern municipalities is a welcome step, as is the decision to schedule the votes. Important now for the process to be conducted fairly, inclusively and transparently.

Vital work by Kosovo’s Independent Media Commission launching an interactive map allowing users to research ownership of media service providers + make informed choices about the sources of news they consult. OSCE will continue to support fostering democratic media landscape.
