Italian, taught at VUW for one hundred years, gone. Latin and Greek, gone. Physical Geography, gone. Geophysics and Graphic Information Systems, gone. Other subjects diminished. These are losses for us all.

Student and staff action saved Theatre at VUW!

We are holding our AGM today to reflect on this year, look at the issues ahead and elect new leaders for roles in our branch. Looking forward to seeing members there in union to talk, reflect and practice whakawhanaungatanga amidst everything going on. Details in your email!

We want publicly to mihi and acknowledge all our Campus Care members and staff and students at the Law School, thinking of them with the protests planned today. Swift, brave action from security staff at the end of last year's occupation protected the Law School. Thank you.

LGBTIQ staff and students at Pipitea faced the vitriol and hatred coming from the occupation, as did other minoritized community members. And everyone had their workplace and place of study taken from them. We stand for public health, community, learning.

Thanks again to VUWSA for supporting the counter-protests that, under the cloak of peace laid down by mana whenua, are saying no to the hatred and anti-Māori rhetoric being pushed on the streets today and Thursday. This is the message we send too.
