When we standardize pedagogy in schools, we ask teachers to "fit in" to conventional models for teaching. This counteracts belonging. To belong, one must be able to show up authentically. Standardizing teaching chips away at authenticity, and therefore belonging.

Teachers aren't perfect, but they ARE trained professionals. They won't always get it right, but if you create the conditions within which teachers can take risks, make mistakes, and reflect productively, learning will flourish.

If my doc wrote me a prescription, why in tarnation would another doc need to see a letter authorizing me to take that prescription? Isn't that what writing the script did? Sometimes I feel like these kinds of requirements are part of an elaborate conspiracy to delay me 😭
