Between the anti racism taskforce and the DEI forum my heart is both sad and glad. This work is draining but the people doing this work are so amazing and inspiring!!! Sunny Nakae I am always left in a deep reflective state whenever I hear you speak!

Love your kid.
No matter how you differ. Love your kid.
Tell them you do.
Show them you do.
Make sure they know,
even when you don’t love their choices,
even when they don’t share your convictions,
that you love them
and you are there for them.
Right there for them.

I’m on TID medication and it is hard! Even the weekly meds are tough to remember. Before labeling patients as noncompliant we should take the time to figure out strategies to support adherence to a treatment plan.

I've been told NUMEROUS times that I was a child's FIRST Black pediatrician.
I am a product of race-conscious admission policies (i.e. Affirmative Action) which granted me an opportunity to get into medical school. I still had to pass the same classes & tests as everyone else!

Apparently I was ‘racially stereotyped’ into Johns Hopkins Medicine so I could be here making a difference for kids in Baltimore and inspire a black kid to be an MD. Here I was thinking someone saw something in me. SMH

At age 4 I wanted to be a pediatrician. In a crowded ER room with a broken arm, I told my mom I will be a Dr that helps kids. Now we have pediatric ERs. And I'm a pediatrician & American Academy of Pediatrics member who advocates for quality and equitable pediatric healthcare
